Since 1997, I have been a small business owner. In partnership with my husband, I have owned and operated a retail gasoline and food mart establishment, an espresso drive-through, and a towing/wrecking business, employing as many as 15 people between the three operations. We started the espresso drive-through, and sold it 8 years later, along with the gas station/food mart, as a thriving, competitive going concern.

I speak conversational Spanish. A large portion of the customer base at our remaining business is Spanish-speaking; as a result, I am continually honing this skill. Additionally, I am studying and learning American Sign Language.

I am an alumnus of Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with a minor in Economics, and worked as a Certified Public Accountant for the Portland branch of Price Waterhouse, LLP, for several years. Thereafter, I independently contracted to perform audits of collateral assets underlying revolving lines of credit, for the clients of various lending institutions.
